A text based animation projected onto the shrouded Lifting Tower commemorating the 800th anniversary of the signing of the Leeds Charter using the latin text of the charter. Hand drawn rendering of the text converted to 800 layers, continually moving, creating a kaleidoscopic visual display. The project was realised in collaboration with Arup Leeds, MAAP, Lumen and made in collaboration with digital Artist Paul Emery. The Lifting Tower, Grade 1 listed, was central to the ambitious multi £million MEPC development and 'Textus' was screened as the first of a programme of cultural events that heralded a new era for this neglected remnant of the former Leeds Central station goods yard and the city's industrial heritage.
