The Present Order
Above Parc Güell, Barcelona, Spain
Montjuic Sandstone.
A collaboration with Ian Hamilton Finlay commissioned by Barcelona City Council assisted by The British Council. Using a reclaimed plinth course from a demolished bank building the inscribed blocks, forming a seating area, are sited on a hill overlooking the entire cityscape of Barcelona stretching out to the Mediterranean Sea. The area, formerly waste ground, is now much used and the work has been central to this place making excercise - it provides the focus, the object of the space. Work undertaken at the Council depository in Sitges.
